James Dean Fans’ Motorcycle Trip to Fairmount

Sunday, July 8, 2001

breakfast at 8:00 a.m.

ride starts 9:30 a.m.

Raindate is July 15, 2000.

Wherever you are in the midwest, hustle on out to Crazy D’s Truck Stop, Exit 78 on I-69 at Indiana State Road 5 at the western edge of Warren, Indiana on the second Sunday every July. Raindate the third Sunday in July. At breakfast we will all agree on where we’ll eat dinner. Alas, the newly remodeled Legend Diner downtown, all Dean, all 1950s is closed and up for sale.

See the house where James Dean grew up with his cousin Mark and his Aunt Ortense Winslow and Uncle Marcus Winslow.

You will pass the Carter’s Motorcycle Shop building where Jimmy got his first Indian bike, on the road where he lived,

You will see Back Creek Friends Meeting where Jimmy attended. Say hey to Button Knight when you pass his farm.

Visit the town where James Dean grew up and revisit the 1997 previous tour too..

Visit the Historical Museum at 203 Washington Street

Visit the James Dean Memorial Gallery at 415 North Main Street.
