We have
a new offering for you, a hard-top-find (even if used) Gene Stratton-Porter nature study book called Tales You Won't Believe.
We will, any day now, have two amazing Limberlost dolls on loan!! They will travel between the two Stratton-Porter state historic sites here in Northeast Indiana. they are Franklin Mint dolls from the Gibson Girl series, about 23 inches tall. The first doll wears a replica of the dress worn by Edith Carr, inspired by the yellow emperor moth. This may be the first time anyone has tried to create the dress from the good description in the book.
The second doll models the dress worn by Elnora Comstock when she played the lead violin solo at her high school play. The description in the book is sketchier than for the first dress, Edith Carr's, yet it is based on the Luna moth. This dress is based on an authentic 1910 evening dress found in an Edwardian pattern book.
Jamie Faller,
our
site naturalist,
has
worked up a spectacular sixteen page newspaper insert published by
Fort Wayne newspapers for distribution in the public schools,
especially designed for 3rd through 8th grade students.
