BioBlitz High School Volunteers Needed!!!

The Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva, Indiana and Nature Preserves are hosting a BioBlitz at the Loblolly Marsh Wetland Preserve in Bryant, Indiana. The Loblolly is a 442-acre area of restored wetland, which is part of the original 13,000 acre Limberlost Swamp that Gene Stratton-Porter once wrote about and studied in the early 1900’s. During this time the swamp was completely drained for agricultural and residential use as well as for easier access to the lumber and rich oil fields.   No studies have been done on this site since Mrs. Porter traversed the land in the early 1900’s.

WHO IS NEEDED: High school students interested in all taxonomic fields, such as botany, entomology, ichthyology, herpetology, ornithology, mammalogy, and mycology, are invited to assist experts from the Rivers Institute at Hanover College, Ball State University, and the Indiana Academy of Science to survey this historical wetland.
